Information you give us
- Contact details — name, business email, company, role, and any message content you submit when booking a call, subscribing, or contacting us.
- Engagement information — details you share during discovery conversations or as part of a consulting engagement.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data — IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, and time spent on the site. Our web host and the third-party tools you accept receive this data when your browser connects to them.
- Cookies and similar technologies — if you accept analytics, our analytics providers use cookies and local storage to recognize returning visitors and measure how the site is used. They are off until you accept. See "Cookies, Analytics and Your Choices" below.
Information from third parties
- We may receive information from analytics, advertising, and meeting-scheduling providers (for example, when you book a meeting through Calendly).
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to inquiries and schedule meetings.

Cookies, Analytics and Your Choices
Analytics on this site are off until you accept them. When you first visit, a banner asks whether you allow analytics. Until you accept, we do not load Google Analytics, RudderStack or PostHog, and they do not set cookies or receive data from your browser.
What we use if you accept
- Google Analytics 4 — traffic and engagement measurement (for example pages viewed, clicks, approximate location, device and browser).
- RudderStack — a customer data platform that routes event data (page views, button clicks and form submissions) to our analytics tools.
- PostHog — product analytics (page views and clicks) to understand which content is useful.
These tools may set cookies or local-storage identifiers (for example names beginning with _ga, ph_ and rl_) to recognize a browser across visits. We do not use session recording or screen replay, and we do not run advertising pixels or use data from these tools for cross-context behavioral advertising.
What we store regardless
- Your choice — we keep your analytics decision in your browser's local storage for up to 12 months so we do not ask on every page.
- Site wording tests — we keep a random number in your browser's session storage for the length of your visit so you see the same homepage headline throughout. It stays in your browser unless you have accepted analytics.
Newsletter sign-ups
If you subscribe to our essays, we use RudderStack to process your submission even if you have declined analytics. In that case we send only the email address and sign-up details you submitted (such as the page and time), without loading any tracking script in your browser.
How to change your choice
- Use Cookie settings in the footer of any page to accept or decline at any time. Declining clears analytics cookies and local storage we set.
- We treat the Global Privacy Control signal and your browser's Do Not Track setting as a decision to decline analytics, unless you choose to accept through Cookie settings.
- You can also block cookies in your browser settings or use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose information only in these situations:
- Service providers — vendors that help us run the site and our business (analytics, hosting, email, scheduling, CRM). They are authorized to use the information only to provide services to us.
- Legal and safety reasons — when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of StatsLateral, our clients, or others.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
Data Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide our services, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Analytics data is retained according to each provider's default retention settings.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and access a copy of it.
- Request correction or deletion of your personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and request a portable copy of your information.
- Withdraw consent for analytics at any time (see "Cookies, Analytics and Your Choices").
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time.
- Not be treated differently for exercising these rights.
California and other U.S. state residents
In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information, for the purposes described in "How We Use Information", and disclosed them only to service providers (such as analytics, hosting, scheduling, email and CRM vendors):
- Identifiers — name, business email, IP address and online identifiers (such as cookie IDs, if you accept analytics).
- Internet or other network activity — pages viewed, clicks, referring URL and device and browser details.
- Professional information — company, role and the content of messages or booking details you submit.
We do not collect sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal as described above.
How to make a request
Email hello@statslateral.com with the subject "Privacy request" and tell us what you are asking for. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and you may use an authorized agent. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
Visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom
We use analytics only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
International Visitors
StatsLateral operates from the United States. If you access the site from outside the U.S., information we collect may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. or other countries where we or our service providers operate. By using the site, you consent to such transfers.
Children's Privacy
Our website and services are directed to business audiences and are not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Third-Party Links
The site may link to third-party websites and services (for example, Calendly for scheduling). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites. Please review their policies separately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated via a notice on the site.
